About Me
I have a Bachelor’s of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of South Carolina, and I took piano pedagogy classes and taught at 3 different music schools while I was in attendance there. Before that, I spent two years studying piano at the SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities.
I currently have a private piano studio based in Newark, Delaware, and I am a member of the Music Teachers National Association and the Delaware Music Teachers Association.
I have experience teaching students of all ages. I have taught young students and adults with no musical background and students who have been studying for years. I enjoy introducing my students to a variety of musical styles, though I do favor classical. I teach all of my students music theory, music history, sight-reading, basic improvisation. I seek to provide my students with a well-rounded music education and a solid foundation for further study, whether these are independent or additional musical pursuits. And I provide my students with a basis for sound technique and healthy playing habits.
I design my lessons specifically for each individual student according to their interests and abilities. I seek to make the lessons fun and keep my students inspired throughout the music process. Students will be expected to develop a strong work ethic while acquiring an increased appreciation for music. My goal is that my students will be encouraged to reach their highest potential and to develop an ability to express themselves emotionally through music.
